Level up for literacy

Postponed until 2021

United Way of Greater Nashville is building classroom libraries for our community’s elementary schools.

Two out of three Nashville third graders are not reading on grade level. Studies have shown that if children cannot read on grade level by the end of third grade, they are five times more likely to drop out of high school.

Together, we’re providing access to books, promoting classroom literacy and working to accelerate reading skills. Our goal is the creation of classroom libraries in our community’s most in-need schools.

Here’s How You Can Help

Donate books. Encourage your employees, family and friends to purchase and donate new children’s books from our Amazon Wish Lists. Donate directly to the cause or start purchasing books.

Host a book drive in your workplace. To register your company, contact Megan McGuire and receive your book drive tool-kit.

Form your volunteer team. Recruit your colleagues to join us. We’ll sort and label the books by reading level and create grade-appropriate classroom libraries.

Become a Days of Action sponsor. Build your brand while supporting the work of United Way through sponsorship. Sponsors will receive recognition and benefits for all three Day of Action events throughout the year.
