Volunteer spotlight: Cyrus shares how a year-long GeekCause project helped Tucker’s House strengthen its systems and expand its impact.
For Cyrus, GeekCause represents something essential about middle Tennessee: a community full of people with different talents who are willing to use those talents to lift up others. From musicians and clinicians to technologists and problem-solvers, Nashville is home to people who bring their best to the places and causes they care about.
“I love how GeekCause lets people bring those skills to the table in service to Nashville,” Cyrus said. “I always wanted to find ways to give back that allowed me to maximize my impact through my unique skillset, so when I found out about GeekCause after moving to Nashville, I knew it was something for me.”
A Year-Long Project with Lasting Value
Cyrus’s GeekCause project with Tucker’s House ran from June 2025 through June 2026. The work began with listening and learning: reviewing current workflows, identifying barriers and inefficiencies, and imagining what an improved process could look like for the organization.
That discovery process revealed a key need: a customer relationship management system that could help Tucker’s House better manage its program work. The team selected Monday.com because it offered the features and integrations the organization needed, along with a limited number of free user licenses for nonprofits.
From there, Cyrus helped configure Monday.com for Tucker’s House and connect it with other tools, including Jotform and Slack. After the team was trained on the new system, it went live in February. The final phase focused on optimization, reporting, and dashboards so the organization could make the most of its new setup.
Learning from the Mission
Beyond the technology work, Cyrus said the experience gave him a deeper understanding of Tucker’s House and its mission to serve children living with disabilities through home modification projects. He also gained new appreciation for the partners and team members who invest significant time and energy into that work.
The project also offered Cyrus the chance to build hands-on experience with Monday.com CRM and compare it with other platforms he has used, including Salesforce.
