Employee Spotlight: Annika Victorson

Jan 7, 2021 | Blog

Happy New Year! We’re excited to launch our employee spotlight series, which provides insight into the roles, talents and interests of our team members. From recent college graduates to seasoned United Way ambassadors, each employee makes an impact in our community!

Meet Annika Victorson: Authentic, Passionate, and Committed

If Annika had a superpower– the ability to immediately change one thing in her community– she would make the waiting lists for services disappear and get everyone who has applied for help what they need.

As our 211 Resource Specialist, Annika updates the 211 database with ongoing and current information about Greater Nashville nonprofits. Residents can call or text United Way’s 211 helpline at any time to speak with a trained specialist about community resources.

What’s the best part of her job? “Working with my amazing boss, LaKelia,” Annika says. “And getting to know the community better through communication with hundreds of local agencies and individuals who need assistance.”

Annika interned with United Way for seven months before joining the team (as an employee) in May 2020. “I am most proud of all that I accomplished in my time at Belmont University, and the Class of 2020 for pushing on during a really tough year to graduate.” Over the months, she has learned what it’s like to work in the nonprofit world. “This is my first job out of college, so I am meeting and learning from so many new people each day.”

As the New Year progresses, Annika really looks forward to seeing what cool initiatives and changes will come from the organization’s generous gift from MacKenzie Scott. Annika is passionate about her work and wants each person across Greater Nashville “to feel like people care about their needs, because something as little as remembering a client’s name can be a game changer.”
