SNAP E&T PARTNERSHIPS
Tennessee Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) helps eligible participants build skills, earn credentials, and gain work experience through funded education, short-term training, and supportive services—all designed to reduce barriers to employment and support long-term self-sufficiency.

Partnership for Workforce Success

TN SNAP E&T’s goal is to provide participants with the opportunity to acquire skills, training, work experience, and/or an industry-recognized credential that provides a direct link to a successful career. TN SNAP E&T also aims to ensure that participants have the necessary skills for successful job search and the vocational readiness needed to obtain regular employment. These goals support the program’s mission to assist participants in finding a career that pays a self-sustaining wage- and vision- that Tennesseans receiving SNAP benefits achieve long-term economic self-sufficiency.

A Statewide System, Powered by Local Partners

SNAP E&T services are delivered through a collaborative statewide model led by Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS), Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD), and community partners across all 95 Tennessee counties. UWGN serves as Tennessee’s primary SNAP E&T intermediary partner under contract with TDLWD, helping coordinate services, manage partnerships, and support program implementation.

By joining SNAP E&T, partners can:

  • Expand access to tuition-supported and reimbursable training
  • Reach motivated participants ready to work
  • Strengthen employer pipelines
  • Increase program sustainability while serving more individuals

Who Can Become a Partner?
UWGN invites applications from:

  • Workforce development agencies
  • Community and technical colleges
  • Short-term training and credentialing programs
  • For-profit and nonprofit organizations

Partnering with the SNAP E&T program through UWGN has been a gamechanger for our capacity to serve the community. By leveraging the 50/50 reimbursement model, we’ve been able to significantly reinvest in our programs—upgrading to the latest OSHA-compliant forklift equipment and modernizing our training workstations. From enhanced logistics simulation tools and interactive classroom technology to providing essential safety gear like vests and glasses, these funds allow us to offer a truly professional-grade environment. It’s more than just a reimbursement; it’s an investment that ensures our participants are trained on the exact equipment and technology they will encounter in the workforce today.
