Great things happen when purpose meets creativity and that’s exactly what’s unfolding through our newest collaboration with Veritiv as we design the official 2026 Stuff the Bus school supply collection box for United Way of Greater Nashville.

This partnership is rooted in a shared belief: how we show up for our community matters just as much as what we give.

A Fresh Take on a Familiar Mission

Stuff the Bus has long been a cornerstone of United Way’s work to ensure every child starts the school year prepared and confident. Each summer, our community rallies to donate backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and supplies, but behind the scenes, there’s a big opportunity to make the giving experience even better.

Enter Veritiv.

Veritiv drives growth with packaging, facility, and print solutions. Powered by deep industry knowledge and a global network, they help businesses cut costs, enhance sustainability, and achieve measurable success. That same expertise is what’s helping us rethink the collection process, transforming it into a tool that’s not only functional, but eye catching, durable, and purposeful.

The partnership also has a personal story behind it. Chasity Farver, Veritiv’s IT Project Manager based in Nashville, has volunteered with Stuff the Bus and saw firsthand where a smarter solution could make a difference—especially at donation collection sites. As she put it, “We would love to have more companies join the cause.”

Our collaborative process kicked off with a brainstorming session that brought together United Way leaders and Veritiv’s design team.

Together, we explored questions like: school supply collection box

  • How can a box better tell the story of Stuff the Bus?
  • How do we protect donated supplies while making collection easy?
  • What design elements encourage participation from businesses and employees?
  • How can the box work equally well for large corporate partners and small businesses?

The result? A creative brief that balances brand storytelling, practical structure, and community engagement — setting the stage for design concepts that rolled out well ahead of the 2026 campaign.

One exciting element of this project is scale. With plans for approximately 200 collection boxes, this initiative will help United Way engage more small businesses and corporate partners than ever before.

The boxes are being thoughtfully designed with:

  • Smart compartments to prevent supplies from being crushed
  • Clear branding and messaging to spark conversations
  • Flexible surfaces that allow for customization and labeling

Every detail reflects one simple goal: make it easier and more fun to give.

At United Way, we know that impact happens when people feel connected to the cause. This collaboration goes beyond design. It’s about creating moments of generosity, pride, and shared purpose in workplaces across Middle Tennessee.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Veritiv team for their enthusiasm, creativity, and generosity in supporting this work — including covering printing and shipping costs so more resources can go directly to kids.

Veritiv Delivers, Designs, and Deploys Goodness

United Way of Greater Nashville was selected as Veritiv’s 2026 Goodness Campaign recipient—one more reflection of Veritiv’s commitment to building safer, stronger workplaces and communities. Through their Goodness efforts, Veritiv delivers goodness through large-scale inventory support and a donation matching program, designs goodness by creating custom box design concepts and printing services for nonprofits and deploys goodness through hands-on service—contributing 6,000+ volunteer hours each year.

The 2026 Stuff the Bus collection box is complete, proof of what’s possible when community purpose meets Veritiv’s problem-solving mindset and design expertise.

Thank you for being part of a community that believes every child deserves to start school ready to learn.
