United Way of Greater Nashville officially kicked off its 15th annual Stuff the Bus collection drive to provide school supplies to local students.

Basic school supplies can cost parents an average of $200 per child. Families struggling to make ends meet often have to choose between buying school supplies or putting food on the table. That’s why United Way needs community support to make sure students have supplies to start the school year ready to learn. Here’s how you can help now through July 18:

  • Host a collection drive in your workplace or community group and deliver completed backpacks to Nissan Stadium on July 18 from 8 to 11 a.m. We’ll provide the tools to make it a success. Visit unitedwaygreaternashville.org/stuff-the-bus to get started.
  • Give money. Donate any amount you wish to help fill backpacks, purchase teacher supplies and provide specialty items needed in the nine counties we serve.

“Stuff the Bus has never been about just filling backpacks,” said Brian Hassett, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Nashville. “It’s about giving kids in our community the tools they need to learn. To solve math problems and understand science experiments. To focus less on what they need and more of what they can be.”

“United Way of Greater Nashville is a longtime valued partner of the Tennessee Titans organization. We look forward to working on ‘Stuff the Bus’ each year as United Way provides tremendous support for families and children in our community,” said Josh Corey, Titans senior director of marketing and social responsibility. “Every child should have access to all the tools needed for a successful and positive school year, and the Titans are proud to support this deeply important initiative.”

United Way is working with local organizations to distribute supplies to students in Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Hickman, Houston, Montgomery, Robertson, Stewart and Williamson counties. To learn more about Stuff the Bus, visit unitedwaygreaternashville.org/stuff-the-bus.
