Greg graduated from college in 1977 in the midst of an economic recession. He had worked part-time in retail as a student so he jumped back in, working his way up the ladder at Woolworth’s, Macy’s, Sears, Belk, Buster Brown and Michael’s. After 41 years in the industry, Greg retired as CEO at Tractor Supply Company, the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the United States. Tractor Supply has been a monumental supporter of United Way for more than 20 years. Greg says as a company they never push employee giving on their team members but instead encourage them to understand the importance of philanthropy and hands-on volunteer work in their community.
